Marauders Map Box

This is a one of kind wooden keepsake box. It is themed after the third Harry Potter film "The Prisoner of Azkaban"

The box features some of the elements from the film and has been a real labour of love for me.

The box is covered with the infamous Marauders Map that Harry is given in the third film. The map features individually placed footsteps that are raised up to give a 3D textured effect.

Also on the box are two hand sculpted from clay "Pawprints" - a sign that Sirius Black's has been here !

There are also tell-tale signs of Lupin's existence as the box features very evident claw marks from his "Werewolf" change !!

The front of the box features a gold Hogwarts Crest wax seal moulded from clay.

My whole idea for this box was to imagine it came from the Shrieking Shack. I purposely aged the box using various techniques and tried to 'stretch' the wood as much as possible. By doing this the box may appear to not 'fit' so to speak. This is intentional. The lid closes and is fixed in place by some beautiful gold coloured hinges but as you can see from the pictures the lid may seem to be a bit larger......or smaller.......depending on your view......but this was my concept.....I wanted it to have a 'damaged' and 'stressed' look. I hope you will agree I have done the job.

Potter Choccy

I decided to make some miniature Honeydukes chocolate / candy bars after I made some for the Harry Potter Keepsake Box.

They make a great pin and look pretty great in my honest humble opinion.

I am wearing one in the picture as you can see and it was by complete coincidence that my top looks like one of Hermione's LOL

If you want to buy one, you can do so by clicking HERE

I'm Just Wild About Harry

First of all I really need to apologise for the complete lack of posts since July 2012. I have been so busy with commissions and other projects that this blog got forgotten about :(

So here are some pictures and details of some of the recent projects I have been working on....

This is a Harry Potter wand plaque I did for myself in the summer. I bought 3 wands (Harry's, Hermione's and Dumbledore's) when I visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter a couple of years ago and couldn't really display them properly so I just found this old piece of wood, cut it to size, stained it, attached the Hogwarts and house crests, attached some decorative screw hooks and the end product turned out exactly how I wanted.

I also started work on some Harry Potter inspired keepsake boxes. This is the first one (again, just made for myself). It features a miniature Harry, a chocolate frog and box, Gryffindor crest, Honeydukes chocolate bar (started) and Harry's Hogwarts invitation letter and envelope. The front features Harry's Hogwarts Express ticket and the sides feature various potion labels.

I have made another one for sale on etsy so keep an eye on my shop CHASING WHIMSIES because it will be added within the next few days.

One product already for sale are my wonderful Chocolate Frog pendants.

Made from polymer clay and varnished to look just like delicious glossy chocolate, the pendants are available now for sale at the price of $12.99.

So, that's what has been keeping me busy (amongst other things) but coming up in the next few months will be more themed keepsake boxes and film inspired pendants !!

Bye for now x
